Microsoft: World’s Best Multinational

First on the list for best workplaces 2011 list is Microsoft. Based in Redmond, Washington, this massive multinational software company’s annual revenue almost reached $70 billion in 2011. Its success runs hand in hand with the technological geniuses, who are employed there, thus Microsoft offers substantial perks to their employees to ensure that they do not drift elsewhere. What propelled Microsoft into the number one best workplace spot is the kind of benefits they offer. Microsoft employees voiced to management that they wanted to contribute more to their communities. Thus the multinational has given employers 40 paid hours annually to spend on whatever community cause they desire, whether it be working in an orphanage or assisting in environmental clean ups. Another best workplace incentive the software company offers is the ‘Junior Lunch’ in Norway. New parents on maternity or paternity leave are allowed to join their colleagues for lunch with their children, meaning that parents can keep in touch with the happenings in the office. Hopefully Microsoft will extend this incentive to the executive suits Memphis offers, as well as the rest of its global arms.

This initiative is in line with SAS’s primary objective, which is to enhance the ability of people in the usage or information in order to create knowledge, making it not only one of the best workplaces in the world, but a responsible one too. Other great perks that make SAS a best workplace for 2011 include on-site healthcare, excellent quality childcare, a paid for summer camp for kids, a beauty salon and a car cleaning service. Companies in the serviced offices Edinburgh to Hong Kong offer, should consider offering perks to employees that really increase staff morale, as in the ultra competitive environment of the world today, companies are always looking to recruit star talent.
